We are experts in metalizing (thermal spray coating/TSC) and liquid coating applications, including zinc, epoxy, polyurethane and polysiloxane. Typical processing involves components such as structural steel, custom fabrications, tanks, vessels, ducts, panels, plate and pipe; however, we have the capability to process virtually anything.
Our growing Rail Divison is hiring 6 Railcar Mechanics!!
The Railcar Mechanic is responsible for rail car inspections and repairs under the direction of the Railcar Lead hand. This is a full-time role working day shifts.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform repairs on rail cars
- Follow designed methods and procedures for safely servicing and inspecting rail cars, underframes, brakes, car safety appliances
- Adhere to deadlines and ensure all repairs meet AAR and quality compliance regulations
- Administrative tasks, such as accurate time keeping, repair schedule and completion records
- Involvement in the procurement of equipment, tools and processing improvements
- Work with hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools.
- Handle an assortment of complex equipment including Shielded Metal Arc
- Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, oxy-fuel and plasma-arc cutting
- Be knowledgeable about a variety of documents including manufacturers’ manuals, technical bulletins, parts bulletins, service or preventative maintenance manuals, fact sheets, American Association of Railways (AAR) field manuals and government regulations.

Essential Qualifications
- 3+ years’ practical experience in the rail car repair industry
- Welding certification and experience and air brake certification (assets)
- Strong customer focus
- Safety and results oriented with a solid mechanical background
- Ability perform hands-on repair to railcars
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Ability to comply with instruction and comprehend published rules, procedures, inspection checklists, government regulations, operating and maintenance instructions and other work-related information
- Working knowledge of railcar mechanical systems, including air brake, welding and fabrication
- Thorough knowledge of CFR regulations
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand & walk continuously for 4 hours at a time
- Comfortable and able to climb a ladder and work at heights up to 10 meters
- Comfortable and able to work in confined spaces
- Ability to lift/push up to 50 lbs
Special Working Conditions
- Flexibility to work overtime to meet production levels, as required
- Own 6 inch CSA safety boots
