Responsibilities

Blastech Rail is growing and we're looking for an experienced mechanic to perform repairs on rail cars. We offer a competitive starting wage with overtime paid after 40 hours and benefits after 3 months.

Individuals with a mechanical background, strong work ethic and excellent attendance record are encouraged to apply today! All candidates should be available to work rotating shifts - days and afternoons - and the occasional weekend.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs on tanks cars
  • Plan repairs for the day and submit inventory requirements to materials department
  • Perform various types of welding repairs on tank cars
  • Adhere to deadlines and ensure all repairs meet AAR and quality compliance regulations
  • Administrative tasks, such as accurate time keeping
  • Work with hand, power, pneumatic and hydraulic tools
Qualifications

To be successful for this role, you will possess:

  • Prior experience performing mechanical repairs is required
  • Positive "can do" attitude, working both in a team and autonomously
  • Willingness to take initiative
  • Proactive approach towards health and safety
  • Comfort working at heights and in confined spaces is essential
  • Prior experience welding is an asset
  • Excellent attendance record
