Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position will be responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. The Controller supervises accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and an accounting manager and is responsible for managing the team to ensure that work is properly allocated and completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internal audits, controls and checks
- Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting
- Manage weekly and monthly reconciliations of general ledger for all companies
- Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records
- Provide financial analysis when necessary
- Manage Cash and Cash Equivalencies including periodic reporting
- Manage Payroll functions on a weekly basis, including payroll taxes and communication to governmental reporting agencies
- Interface with outside vendors
- Assist with Financial Reporting requirements
- Other duties as necessary
CPA preferred
Experience with Construction industry preferred
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints.
- Effective written and verbal communications skills.
- Proven flexibility and adaptability in an entrepreneurial environment.
