Responsibilities

The Controller is accountable for the oversight of the daily activities of the finance teams at Brant Corrosion Control and Brant Industrial Roll and ensures that the finance departments ares organized and efficient, producing accurate financial and management reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversea the site finance function and finance team
  • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes
  • Works with AR and AP coordinators to ensure accounts are paid and received in a timely manner
  • Partners with HR to manager the site payroll function to ensure accuracy and compliance with payroll legislation
  • Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed and required debt payments are made
  • Maintain the chart of accounts and an orderly and controlled accounting filing system
  • Issues complete financial statements and provides financial analyses to general manager
  • Coordinates the preparation of the corporate annual report
  • Manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts and calculate variances from the budget
  • Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
  • Manage the monthly close process
  • Prepare monthly financial reports for two companies: Monthly reports include income statement, balance sheet, KPIs and cash flow statement.
  • Prepare of monthly journal entries and ensure accurate posting to the General ledger
  • Prepare and submit all governmental monthly remittances ie. HST, WSIB, Income taxes, etc.
  • Approval of the bi-weekly payroll for all personnel
  • Ensure that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained including monthly reconciliations, segregation of duties and adherence to delegation of authority
  • Prepare and provide external auditors with all necessary working papers/documents

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field or equivalent business experience
  • 5+ years’ progressively responsible experience for small-medium sized organization
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Professionalism and confidentiality
  • 2+ years’ supervisory experience is an asset
  • Experience using financial software, Microsoft Dynamics, GP is an asset
  • Preference given to candidates with Certified Professional Accountant designation

 

Physical Requirements

  • Fine motor skills to keyboard/type continuously
  • Ability to sit and/or stand continuously at workstation
