Responsibilities
The Construction Foreman provides onsite supervision to construction workers in the erection of above ground bolted storage tanks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises the onsite construction of projects according to the project plan. Ensures projects are completed within prescribed schedules and budgets and in compliance with company policies and procedures, safety standards, applicable codes, and directives from authorities having jurisdiction.
- Works alongside crew members to erect tanks. Includes reading and interpreting blue prints; moving materials, aligning metal parts and bolting them together, operating the jacking system, and other required duites.
- Provides instruction and manages the efforts of construction workers.
- Consults with Construction Manager and/or Human Resources as needed on employee questions, concerns, complaints, or performance management issues.
- Provides feedback to Construction Manager on project status. Notifies the Construction Manager as soon as possible of any critical issues or delays that may impede completion of the project.
- Review and approve construction worker time sheets each week.
- Respond to questions and concerns related to the onsite construction of projects that may be raised by customers, contractors, vendors, etc. Consult with Construction Manager as needed to address issues.
- Request approval for expenditures to ensure adherence to departmental budget, including labor cost, equipment, etc.
Other duties as needed to construct capital projects.
- 5 years of management and field experience in construction of capital projects.
- Bilingual skills a plus.
- Must be able to travel as needed to visit work-sites with varying types of terrain.
- Working knowledge of management procedures, budgeting, training and program implementation. Requires excellent communications skills. Extensive knowledge of specific health, federal, state and professional regulations.
Competencies:
- Works at the construction site subject to external elements of extreme heat or cold.
- May be required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Regularly required to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb.
- Must be able to drive a forklift.
- Must be able to climb and use a ladder (be off the ground) for extended periods of time.
- Regularly required to see, read, and type in response to emails, contracts, blue prints, and other written material.
- Must be able to adhere to safety requirements.
- Must be able to drive a vehicle from hotel to construction site and from one site to another.
Travel to the work site may requiring extended periods of sitting. Air travel may be required.
